A native of Savannah, GA, born to Margaret Grant Green, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Priest was the Head of Security at Fort Monroe, after retiring from the Navy. He also owned his own car detailing company, G&G Finishing Touch for 26 years, and he had very loyal customers. He even refereed basketball before leaving the occupation to take care of his wife. Priest was very much a family man. He loved working in his yard and always tried to outdo his neighbors and even more so at Christmastime with holiday decorations so we can be the best on the street. He was an avid Eagles fan, and seeing the Eagles win the Super Bowl with his family (especially his die-hard Eagles fan daughter), made him incredibly happy. He also has a competitive spirit and loved to show that off in bowling. He would often compete with his wife playing solitaire on his phone to beat his wife’s time. He even liked to cook… but only if it was his signature three dishes: Stewed Chicken, Grits, and Pancakes. Before COVID-19, he loved to travel! He would love to go on road trips with family up and down the East coast blasting his favorite radio stations, The Groove and Soul Town. He also loved his gospel music and his jazz music. He was a health nut! He loved his Fitbit, and always walked around to get his steps in, so many steps that the Fitbit would say “enough!” In fact, he was so healthy that because he was an organ donor, his organs helped more than 50 people. He also loved drinking tea like an old British lady. Any type of tea, no matter how disgusting, he would always drink it. Most importantly, he loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his siblings, and his in-laws. The memories they all shared with him will always last forever.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 22 years, Winona. His children (in Virginia); Courtney Campbell (Raymond Robinson), Rodrick Hooper, Gabrielle Green, and Saidah Green. His grandchildren (in Virginia); Ramaria, Zahria, Nuriah, Danielle, and Aliyah. His Mother-In-Law (in Virginia); Jeanette Burton. His In-Laws (in Virginia); Brenda Burford (Robert L. Burford Sr.), and Bridgett Valentine (Glenn Valentine). His siblings; Katie Singleton (KY), Brenda Long (Allan), GA), Benjamin Smalls (Mimi), TN), and Ronald Grant (Nita), Donald Grant and Nicholle Grant, all of GA).
He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, a host of nieces, nephews, assorted relatives, and lots of friends.
