Virginia Beach - Leonard John Mayhew, 68, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 19, 2017. He was born Oct. 11, 1949 in Thomasville, NC to the late Clarence Mayhew Jr. and Ethel Elizabeth Mayhew Baker. He proudly served his country in the US Army and then continued a career with Norshipco, from which he retired. Following retirement, he was a delivery driver for Aurora Caskets Co.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Scott Douglas Mayhew and step-sister, Alice Catron.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Mayhew; son, Johnny Mayhew; daughter, Tabatha Mayhew; step-son, Charles Richard Kearns; brothers, Ed Mayhew and Franklin Mayhew; step-brother, Miles E. Baker III; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wed. Nov. 22, 2017 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach.
