Leon Jay Dawley left us on the morning of January 27, 2015. He was known to all who loved him as “Clem”, and was born on May 19, 1933 in Madrid, New York. In New York he worked on many farms and at the age of 25 he enlisted in the US Coast Guard, where he served his country for 20 years. He then worked on clam boats on Chincoteague Island, VA. He later became the “Fuel Guy” for Mason Oil Company. In 2006 he really retired and moved to Chesapeake, VA. Mr. Dawley was preceded in death by his parents John and Bernice Dawley, his brother William and his son James A Dawley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Norma J. Dawley; two sons Timothy and his wife Lisa of Newport News, VA; and Thomas and his wife Arlene of Suffolk, VA; three granddaughters Amanda, Joanna and Lilly and three grandsons Shawn, Tyler and Johnathan; great grandson Christopher and great granddaughter Madelynn and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10AM officiated by Rev. Allen B. Hopkins, Sr. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home; 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach VA 23462.
