Kenneth Austin Dowdy

Mr. Dowdy was born in West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents James Dowdy and Bertie Gray Dowdy and a sister Dorothy Dowdy. Kenneth retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer after twenty years of service and from Civil Service after thirty-five years. He was twice Past Master of Cantonment Masonic Lodge in Florida. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Dolly Dowdy; three daughters Donna Gill, Mary Ramsey and her husband Joey, Patty Bitar and her husband Ken; a son Billy Dowdy and his wife Lisa; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Carr (Forrest), Charlie Gill, Nicholas Ramsey (Amanda), Daniel Dowdy (Christin), Lara Henry (Nate), Luke Newman, Kenny Bitar and Kevin Bitar; one great grandson Connor Dowdy. Ken is also survived by many loving family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Home.

A graveside service will be held at the Albert G. Horton, Jr., Veteran Cemetery in Suffolk on December 2, at 1:00 p.m.
