Kathleen (“Kathy”) Teresa Viohl, born on April 7, 1949, to Eugene Winkler and Teresa Scheuring, in Brooklyn, NY, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2024.
Kathy was married to the love of her life, Richard William Viohl, who predeceased her in 1999.
Kathy worked for many years at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center before retiring in 2007. She then worked part-time for Goodwill Industries after moving with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters to Virginia Beach in 2007. Kathy retired from Goodwill in 2021 after moving to Currituck, NC with her family.
She found joy in going to Bingo night with her friends at the clubhouse, watching her game shows throughout the day or watching an episode of I Love Lucy or the Honeymooners. She loved sitting out on the back deck and “working on her tan”. She was a wonderful doggie grandma to her three fur babies, Athena, Milo, and Charlie, whom she cared for each and every day. Kathy also became a part-time chicken farmer (who’d of thought?).
Kathy is survived by her daughters, Christine Myers (Gregory Myers), and Kelly Cooke (Douglas Cooke), her granddaughters, Sara Myers and Samantha Myers, her grandsons, David Cooke and Matthew Cooke, her sister, Karen Yezzi (William Yezzi), her brothers, James Winkler (Victoria Winkler), Eugene Winkler, and also her nieces and nephews and extended family.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. There will be no graveside service as Kathy will be cremated and brought home to Bells Island with her family.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
