Katherine Robertson Johnson

Katherine R. Johnson, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2012. She was born February 11, 1921 to the late Moses and Pitt Cora Robertson. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Johnson and three brothers and one sister.

Katherine is survived by her three sons, Charles Johnson and girlfriend Crystal Johnson, Clayton Johnson and wife Janice, and Michael Johnson; granddaughters, Laura Johnson, Amber Johnson, Carrie Johnson-Moore and husband Kris, Megan Clark and husband Nathan, and Erica Johnson; and seven great-grandchildren.

Katherine graduated from Lewisburg College. She then spent her early years as a housewife and mother before working 27 years for the Virginia Beach Public School System.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Ann Robertson, Katherine’s sister-in-law and longtime friend; Crystal Johnson, who prepared her meals and took care of her personal needs for many years; Vicky Dozier, a very special neighbor; Hannah Mason, a close family friend; and Ruth Russell, a close family friend.
