Lita was born in Malasiqui, Pangasinan, Philippines. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Quintin Domantay Caragan; their daughter, Cynthia Caragan; her parents, Don Isabelo de Vera Montemayor and Donya Isadora Queñano Montemayor as well as her 8 older brothers, Hilario Montemayor, Jose Montemayor, Cipriano Montemayor, Thomas Montemayor, Catalino Montemayor, Rodolfo Montemayor, Ernesto Montemayor, Toraduo Montemayor, and 3 additional brothers (names unknown).
Lita received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Far Eastern University and was a schoolteacher in the Philippines. She ultimately retired from the Navy Exchange Norfolk as a Department Manager with 19 years of service.
Lita’s faith was exemplified through her dedication to family and home. She made caring for her family her sole vocation in life. She cherished spending time in her garden of roses, orchids, and various flowers. Lita loved preparing savory meals using vegetables from the backyard garden and enjoyed playing Wordscapes, watching Filipino telenovelas and rooting for her favorite tennis player, Rafa Nadal.
Survivors include her children, Abraham Caragan, Catherine Villanueva and husband Ronald, Napoleon Caragan and wife Mary Margaret, Juliana Scott and husband Billy, Samuel Caragan; grandchildren Matthew, Elise, Colton Luke, Kate Jolie Villanueva, Andrew Caragan, Josephine, Liliana, and Shalie Scott; numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A novena prayer will begin at 3:00pm. The wake service will immediately start at 4:00pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
