John Fillmore Lane, 86, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022. John was born October 21, 1935 in Damascus, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Cona Lane and a grandson Corey V. Harris.
Mr. Lane retired from the City of Virginia Beach, Public Works as a Superintendent of Bridge and Waterway Maintenance. He was a member of The Gathering at SMUMC, American Legion, Commander of 29th Division Association (Post 5), Sons of Confederate Veterans - P.A. Post 484, Oceana Alumni Association, National Rifle Association and Viet Nam Veteran's Memorial Association and a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his loving wife Shirley H. Lane; three daughters Mary Harris (Michael), Janice Hess (Randy) and Eveline Bruce; four granddaughters Nichole Watson (Joseph), Lauryn Martinez (Fernando), Sarah Hess and Abigail Bruce; a grandson Ethan Bruce; four great grandsons Austin J. Watson, Houston M. Watson, Fernando M. Martinez and Francisco L. Martinez; and his adopted son Joel. C. Harris.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 18, 10a.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
