As a Christian, husband, father, grandfather and brother he left behind wife, Shirley E.; daughters, Katheryne A. Bradshaw and Candy L. Morgan; son in law, Russell C. Bradshaw; granddaughters, Ashlea G. and Jessyca L. Bradshaw; brothers, Donald W. Cook of Stratford, NJ; and Thomas Cook, Sr. of Oconto Falls, WI; extended family of Holland Road Baptist Church; and brother Masons of Willis V. Fentress Lodge 296, VB.
John gave his country 22 active and 8 reserved years in the U.S. Navy, 20 years to the Va. Dept. of Transportation at the Portsmouth Tunnel Commission, 38 years to the Va. Police Association, 40 years to his church, 6 years to his fraternity, and 59 ½ years to his bride, Shey.
By his solemn oath John vowed he was a believer in Christ Jesus, a defender of his Country, an officer of the law, a Mason, a man with a purpose, a “Jack of all trades” loved and admired by everyone who knew him.
A celebration of John’s life will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, June 20, 2011 at Holland Road Baptist Church, 4881 Euclid Road, Va. Beach with a reception to follow the service. If you knew him please join us.
