It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jody” Howard Luck beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who left us on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, at the age of 78.
He was born on December 1st, 1945, in Washington DC to Howard and Sara Luck and was raised in Manassas Virginia. He graduated from Washington & Lee University and The Darden School of Business (UVA) He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the US Air Force Reserves. He was an avid golfer, a fact finder, and enjoyed training his beloved Shih Tzu, Sophie and Gracie. His heroes have always been cowboys. One of his favorite things to do was spending time with his family. He was passionate about community service, became a member of Key Club in high school, and remained an active member of Kiwanis until his passing. He served on the board of the Samaritan House and was an advocate for battered women and children at risk. He was involved in multiple children’s charities and served on several boards as advocates for children. He had a servant’s heart and served on many different boards, from the jail board in Manassas to president of Manassas Lumber Company, and numerous other boards and charities. For nearly three decades he was a certified financial planner for Wells Fargo. He was an active member at First Baptist Church of Norfolk and deeply loved his church family. He seldom spoke of how to be a Christian but actively demonstrated daily to his family and everyone he meets what it was to be a Christ follower.
He is survived by his beloved wife Dee Luck, daughter Windy Shepley-Collat (Pete), two sons Chuck Williams (Laura) and Chad Luck (Angela), five grandchildren Candace Boice (Beau), James Shepley, Jalen Luck, Amber Luck and Christian Williams, six great grandchildren Ollie, Amos, Marni, Wells, Roxie and Jo Jo, brother Randy Luck (Tanya) and sister Cathy Luck Miller, nieces Jennifer, Stephanie, Christen, nephews Jamey, Michael and Steele. He is preceded by Howard and Sara Luck and Brother Jerry Luck.
