Gloria Laverne Reid was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 20, 1947 to her late parents, Robert Edward Joyce and Mable Lee Parham. Gloria was the oldest sibling of two and gave birth to her son, Gerald Emmanuel Reid.
Gloria attended and graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1965. She also attended Drexel University from which she received an associate’s degree.
Gloria worked hard and diligently for the Department of Defense, retiring after 33 years of service. She then worked for Avis/Budget for several years. Gloria also was the treasurer of the Princess Anne Gardens Condo Association and was promoted to secretary, where she worked diligently in that capacity for several years until retiring.
Gloria gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Grace Bible Church, where she worked part-time in the church office.
Glo, as many affectionately called her, had a selfless heart. She gave to those who were in need and even sponsored two children in Africa. Her family was most important to her and she loved them all in her own special way. Her hobbies included shopping, eating at restaurants, and she grew to love drawing with color pencils.
Glo was loved by everyone who knew her. Her presence influenced each person that bonded with her. They all took a piece of her and applied her example to their lives.
