Geraldine S. Thompson

Geraldine S. Troio Thompson, 90, passed away on July 23, 2013, at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born to Matteo and Anna Troio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Thompson. She was a member of Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, and Roma Lodge, Virginia Beach, member of Bonco and Pokeno groups, and Senior Citizens Group, Sherwood Forest Recreational Center, Norfolk. “Granny” was an exceptional cook and baker. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and devoted her life to her family.

Survivors include children, Anna Duren (husband Bill), Roberta Futrell (husband Michael) and Debi Carlson; grandchildren Robert Duren (Liz), Heather Martin (Brian), Danielle Futrell, Michael Futrell (Katie), Michelle Carlson and Ashley Carlson; and great-grandchildren Cole Martin, Blake Martin, Hannah Martin, Connor Futrell, Sophia Duren, Troy Duren, Daphne Brion, and Aidan Brion. Mrs. Thompson is also survived by her siblings, Esther Troio, Leo Troio and Marion Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, 4853 Princess Anne Rd in Virginia Beach with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
