George William Mills

George William (Billy) Mills left this world on December 31, 2022 in Annapolis Maryland. George was born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 2, 1931. He graduated from Granby High School Class of 1949 and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Cadet Class of 1953. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army stationed in San Francisco. California. He worked for Tidewater Construction Company where he retired as Vice President, Heavy Industrial Division.

George is predeceased by his father, John Lane Mills; mother, Mildred Capps Mills; sister, Jane Hanner; and his beloved wife and best friend Eleanor Pair Mills. He is survived by his son, John Kent Mills (Kathie); his daughter, Susan Mills Leedes (John); five grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan, Kelly, Sam, and Eric; and 11 great-grandchildren.

George will be remembered as an avid gardener, providing family and friends with tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans; story teller; and traveler.

George will be laid to rest in the family gravesite located at Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, Chesapeake, Virginia, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM, presided by Reverend Richard Baker with George’s immediate family in attendance.
