Virginia Beach - Elizabeth C. "Betty" Parker,87, passed away on January 27, 2012. She was born and raised in New York City, the youngest of three sisters born to Mary (Gribbon) and Joseph Chisholm. Betty married Edwin Joseph Parker in 1947, and began her life as a Navy wife and mother of five children. With her husband and family, she traveled the US and Europe. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband in 1994, and her sister Dorothy Chisholm Dayton in 2003.
Beside the all important work of raising her five children, Betty enjoyed needlework, finishing crossword puzzles, tending to her plants, and talking back to political news shows on television. She loved living at the Beach, and regaling one and all with stories of her youth in New York City, often much to her children's chagrin. She was immensely proud of her husband, children, grandchildren, immigrant parents, and Irish heritage. She will be missed by all, forgotten by none.
Survivors include Susan and Howard Flora and their son Benjamin; Toni and Dan Hoy and their daughter Samantha; David and Trisha Parker and their children Morgan and Addison; Peter Parker; Christopher and Amy Parker and their children Sarah, Ann, and Jack; sisters Helen Chisholm and Agnes Dollard; niece Dorothy Dayton, and nephew Jay Dayton.
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. You may offer your condolences to the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
