Virginia Beach – Edward “Loy” Senter Sr., 83, passed away on December 27, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Senter, and parents, William E. and Edith G. Senter.
Loy was born in Norfolk on October 12, 1935 and was a resident of Chic’s Beach for nearly 80 years. Soon after graduating from Kempsville High School, he joined the Virginia Army National Guard and for a period of years he manned the Nike anti-aircraft missile sites that ringed Hampton Roads during the early days of the Cold War. He was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 110 for decades. Loy was a steadfast presence in both his church and community and was loved by his friends and family.
He is survived by his son, Edward Loy Senter Jr. and wife Lisa of Chesterfield County; daughter Kimberly Senter of Virginia Beach; granddaughter Morgan Senter; three grandsons, Michael Senter, Christopher Senter, and Jeffrey Senter; and brother, Luther Senter and wife Donna of Fairfax County. He also leaves behind many other family members and close friends.
Visitation will be held on January 2, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on January 3, 2019 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
