Dorothy D. Hinkle

Dorothy Davis Hinkle, 95, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014. A native of Courtland Va., she lived her early years in South Hampton County before moving to Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years William E. Hinkle and her sister Willie D. Beard. She is survived by a nephew Franklin L. Beard Jr. and wife Carol, a niece Linda B. Armstrong and husband David, a great niece Jennifer Beard, as well as great nephews David Armstrong III and Matthew Armstrong and wife Ranna.

Dorothy was a member of Community Methodist Church, was a Past Matron of Kempsville Chapter #173 Order of the Eastern Star, a past Queen of Al Kena Temple #124 Daughters of the Nile and active in both organizations for many years.

Friends may join the family at Smith and William Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel for an Eastern Star Service at 6:00 PM January 8, 2014 with visitation to follow until 8:00.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on January 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children - Greenville, South Carolina or to a favorite charity.
