Donald served in the US Navy and retired after 20 years of service.
Dad was a complex and wonderful man, and to try and tell his story is a pretty tall order. First and foremost, he was a Husband to our Mother and always made sure as a family we had what we needed and usually then some. He loved her very much and was happy she was there in the end, knowing that she might not remember tomorrow because of her Alzheimer's.
Next, he was a Dad who would do anything for his children. However, if it had anything to do with money, expect to pay for it with a lecture about how you could have avoided asking him. Didn't matter though because he was going to help us anyway because he loved us. He loved bowling and golf and big family events like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I use to remember him and my mom bowling in their Friday night league at Indian River Lanes as we kids were usually all over the place being mischievous.
He was a Grandpa and he was Mr. P. He was also a Great-Grandpa and he was PawPaw. He loved his grandkids and great grandkids. And last, but not least, he was a friend. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. We would ask that you would remember his smile because if he shared it with you, you knew it was genuine. We miss you already and love you forevermore.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Carrie E. Prickett; son, Donald S. “Sam” Prickett; daughter, Carrie Y. Peach; 9 grandchildren (Kevin, Raechel, Morgan, Regan, Jaimie, Stacy, Bobby, Michael and Emily).
