Virginia Beach – Donald Timothy Hobbs, 70, passed away July 17, 2012. He was born in Wilmington, NC on Dec. 24, 1941 to the late Douglas and Emma Hobbs. Mr. Hobbs grew up in Norfolk and attended Maury High School. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. Mr. Hobbs retired from the Navy Public Works Center and Nav Fac Norfolk after 35 years of service with a number of awards and commendations.
Mr. Hobbs was a 40 plus years member of the Independent Loafers Duckpin Bowling League with numerous awards, trophies, and monies; including a Superior Performance Award from the National Duckpin Bowling Congress in recognition of a 467 set. He was also a member of the Tidewater Antique Automobile Club of America. His favorite hobbies were fishing, bowling, and restoring and showing antique cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Debbie Hobbs.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julia D. Hobbs; brother, Dale Hobbs (Carol); sister, Wanda Campbell; granddaughter, Taylor Marie Hobbs of Texas; and many extended family and supportive friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
