She was born to Leo and Liza Hutzenbiler on Sept 14, 1953. She grew up in the Portlock area of Chesapeake, Virginia and she graduated from Oscar F. Smith High School in 1971. She later graduated from Old Dominion University in 1975. Cindy fulfilled an elementary education career of 30 years while teaching many young students at Park View Elementary (Portsmouth Va.), Old Donation Episcopal Day School (Va. Beach), North Landing Elementary (Va. Beach) and Ocean Lakes Elementary School (Va. Beach). She met her husband, Guy Piasecki, while attending Old Dominion University and they both worked their way through college by working at the Military Circle JC Penney in the early 70’s. Together, they raised 2 wonderful sons: Jason and Nicholas. Cindy was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Hutzenbiler. Cindy is survived by her sister and her husband, Christina (Chrissy) and Gabriel Perez; her two sons Jason and Nicholas Piasecki; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Piasecki; son-in-law, John Noiseux; and grandchildren, Madeline (Maddie), Chase, and Augustine (Gus) Piasecki.
Cindy loved her family, many students, and many friends. She loved vacations on the beach, long walks, seeing her teacher friends after retirement from the school system, and she was an avid book reader until the Alzheimer's disease took its toll in the latter years.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm at the Smith & Williams Funeral Home/Kempsville on Wednesday, February 14. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Cynthia Piasecki.
