Constance "Connie" Elaine Wood

Connie was born in Mandeville, Jamaica on December 25, 1939. She was a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and was an administrative assistant for New York Life Insurance Company for 26 years.

Connie is predeceased by her parents, Clifton and Ruby Woolley; and spouse, Colin Wood. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cheryl Chin Yee (Leighton), Karen Donley (Timothy), Suzanne Satsatin (Edgardo) and Stacey Owsley (Cary); grandchildren, Shakeena Semmel (Tom), Simone Coston, Nicholas Chin Yee, Brandon Chin Yee, Darion Donley, Dailon Donley, William Coston V, Isabella Lopez, Sophia Lopez and Christian Brooks; great-grandchildren, Vaeda Misfeldt, Olivia Semmel and Kallie Semmel; her beloved sister, Ouida King; and a host of family and friends.

Connie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had the most beautiful soul and gentle heart. She touched everyone’s lives that she came in contact with. She loved spending time with her family, doting on her four kids, ten grandkids and three great-granddaughters, watching game shows, tennis, and baseball with her sister Ouida and traveling any chance she got. She looked forward to weekends when the King and Wood families gathered. Ouida and Connie were dubbed “Thelma and Louise” as they were always together. Connie will truly be missed by her family and a host of friends. We love you, Mom. May you rest in peace.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 509 S. Rosemont Road, Virginia Beach, VA., with visitation beginning 1 hour prior at 10:00 AM. The service will be followed by a mausoleum entombment at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. All are then welcome to join the family in reception at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
