Claire “Connie” Skidmore 78, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed peacefully in her home April 11, 2019. A self described Air Force “brat” she lived in many places throughout the United States with Paradise, CA and Virginia Beach, VA being her favorites.
Connie held a master’s degree in Religious Education from St. Margaret’s House in Berkeley, CA as well as a master’s degree in Computer Science from University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Her intellectual rigor led her to pursue continuing study throughout her life.
Although she retired as a systems analyst manager in 2009, her true passion was studying and teaching others about Jesus, spirituality, and life after death at her chosen spiritual home, Unity Renaissance of Chesapeake. Her love of Jesus, books, the study of life after death, mediumship, trees, wildlife, equality, and justice was apparent to anyone who knew her well. She especially loved sitting under a tree alongside the James River in Williamsburg reading a good book.
She is survived by her brother William E. “Bill” Davis III, his wife Amy Blaustein Davis, her niece, Carlotta Flanigan (David), nephew, Willie Davis, stepsons Jerry and Manny Calvillo, and her partner Claudia Harrell. Also left to cherish her memory is her beloved Schnoodle, Lacey.
She was predeceased by her parents William E. Davis Jr and Rubynell Simon Davis, as well as her former partner Loretta Krol.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2 PM at Unity Renaissance, 1120 Eden Way N., Chesapeake, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Unity Renaissance or to the organization of your choice which promotes animal welfare, or equality and justice for all.
