Charlie Williams, Jr., 82, of Virginia Beach, VA, departed this life on December 3, 2023. He was born in Auburn, AL to the late Charlie and Hattie Williams. Charlie served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired after 30 years of honorable dedicated service. After retiring from the Navy, he attended Johnson and Wales Culinary School earning an Associate degree in Culinary Science. He then went to work for Harris Teeter for a few years in Georgia and Virginia. Charlie was a former member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. For many years “Willie” was a referee for local baseball and basketball games. He and Nicki liked to travel and take vacation cruises. In his spare time, he greatly enjoyed playing pinochle, cribbage, and dominoes.
Charlie was predeceased by both parents; a son, Leonard Jones; and his brother, Eugene Williams.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 34 years, Carolyn T. “Nicki” Williams; 2 sons, Kelvin D. Williams (Carla) and Keith D. Williams (Rosalind); 2 daughters, Kimberly Geiger and Karen Malcolm; step-daughter, Akilah Grant (Daires); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and 1 nephew.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at A.G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery. You may offer condolences at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com
