Virginia Beach - Charlie L. White, 97, passed away in his sleep with his daughter by his side on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in 1917 in Bath, NC to the late William Taylor and Ada Ellen Paul White. He was the loving husband of the late Helen C. “Betsy” White. He was a member of Indian River Baptist Church. Charlie retired from Ford Motor Company in 1976 after thirty years of service. After retirement he spent twenty years crop dusting the farms of Pungo, Moyock, and Currituck.
He was preceded in death by five sisters; three brothers; and his eldest nephew, George Delmar. He is survived by his only child, Sherry, who adored him; his sister, Winnie Creekmore; a special nephew, John and his family of Chesapeake, VA; nieces and nephews in NC; and numerous friends. He especially enjoyed his time spent with his lifelong friend and Hardee’s breakfast buddy, Herbert Lee and his Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy buddy, Kathy.
Charlie never met a stranger and his love of life and radiant smile will be remembered in the hearts of all who loved him.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 with a celebration of life service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
