Charles “Charlie” Ray Walling, 82, passed away in Virginia Beach on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Charlie was born in Milton, FL to the late Christopher C. Walling, Jr and Ruby Walling. Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and even great-great grandfather. He worked as a meat-cutter at various supermarkets throughout his lifetime. Charlie was an avid golfer, loving the game so much, he worked part time as an attendant at Kempsville Greens Golf Course after retiring. He had a green thumb and loved gardening, planting and he even built a Koi pond in his back yard that he tended to for 20+ years. Charlie was the kind of person to give the shirt off of his back, always willing to help with projects of any kind. He was an animal lover and was especially fond of Bassett Hounds. He is cherished in memory by his wife, Mary; six children, Phillip, Laura, and her husband, Rob, Jim and his wife, Tina, William, Kathryn and her husband, Mike and Reiss and his wife, Schyler; fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
