Blanche C. Tatem, 87, of Virginia Beach, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Cail Friel and Jeanne VanAckern Friel. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She was a member of Coastal Virginia Church, formerly Glad Tidings Church for over 60 years. She loved singing in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.
She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Marvin Ray Tatem and her son Charles Burd.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Margie Perkins, Cail Burd, Janet Respass, Teresa Tatem, Diane Zewalk, Bonnie Bagwell, Cathy Tatem and Rusty Tatem; siblings, Janet Slaughter and Marion McCaskill; 23 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Coastal Virginia Church, 301 S. Newtown Rd, Norfolk, VA, conducted by Sr. Pastor Ben Messer and the Honorable Rob MacDonald. Burial will follow at Charity UMC Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Interim Home Hospice.
