Billie Jane Winston

Virginia Beach - Billie Jane Winston passed away August 30, 2012 in Venice, FL following a long illness. Billie was the daughter of the late William Albert Barber, Sr. and Jane Tabitha Barber of the Eastern Shore of VA. Growing up she and her mother had the opportunity to live in many different places thanks to her father's Army career. She graduated from Accomac High School and later from Longwood College and the College of William and Mary. Following her graduation she moved to Virginia Beach, VA to teach in the public schools and later she became an Education Specialist with the Army and worked at Fort Lee and Fort Eustis. Following her retirement she and her husband moved to Accomack County, VA, and later to Venice, FL. She is survived her husband Howard Starr Winston Sr. of Virginia Beach, VA a current resident of Venice, FL; her children, Howard Starr Winston Jr., Jane (Doc) Winston, and William Henry Winston; and her brothers, Thomas Amos Barber and William Albert Barber Jr. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
