She was the oldest of two daughters born to Clayburn E. Chambers and Helen Elizabeth Chambers on November 11, 1931 in Grinnell, Iowa. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Patricia Summers, and brother-in-law, Lawrence J. Dougherty.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 66 years, Vernon B. (Dutch) Nye; sons, V. Hunter Nye (wife Beth and children Erin and Hunter), Richard C. Nye (wife Rosemary and daughter Casey). Also left to cherish her memory is sister-in-law, Mary L. Dougherty; nieces, Cindy Heafy and Margaret Summers.
Beverly enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She was an avid swimmer and spent summers going to the beach, crabbing, and boating with her family and friends. She (Grandma Boof) dearly loved her grandchildren with whom she gave her talents and time to generously. She attended Lynnhaven United Church of Christ and Community United Methodist Church. In addition to her church involvement, she retired from Virginia Beach General Hospital and was a member of several clubs in the community.
Above everything else, Beverly’s family was the pride and joy of her life. We will all miss her dearly but her legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
