Annie Inez Cahoon Beck passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, April 12, 2016, surrounded by the love and support of her children. She was born on October 23, 1925, to the late Otis and Alma Cahoon of Gum Neck, NC, in their family home. Graduating in the top three of her high school class, she also played on the basketball team. After school she married and joined the war effort as a clerk. A naturally talented pianist, she played in church for many years. Known to her family and friends as an excellent cook and baker, her cakes will be missed at family gatherings for years to come.
She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, James Henry Beck, her brother Horace Cahoon and her son-in-law Rev. Benny Hampton. She leaves behind two sisters Jane Rhodes, Grace Combs and husband Jack, and sister-in-law Nanette Cahoon. She was loved by her three children Rev. Terry Beck and wife Mary Nell, Sharon Beck Hampton, Theresa Beck Lockhart and husband Jessie. She was the doting grandmother to ten grandchildren and sweet great-grandmother to eighteen. Her numerous nieces and nephews brought her much joy.
Her humor, kind heart and sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:30 am before the service. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
