Allan G. Decker, Jr., 77, passed away on April 7, 2011. He was born on July 22, 1933 in Maryland the son of the late Allan G. Decker, Sr., and Ruth Williams Decker. Allan was an outdoors kind of guy, he loved hunting and fishing and his grown up toys. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and enjoyed teaching safe boating classes. Allan worked at several jobs one of which was with Montgomery Wards, but his career was as a supervisor with Virginia Natural Gas Company, retiring with 42 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 21 years, Sandra Decker; his daughter, Angela Macey and husband Chris; 4 grandchildren, Justin, Amber, Amathyst and Lindsay all of Gloucester, VA; sister, Barbara White and niece Karen Birch both of Virginia Beach; 2 very special friends, Rhonda Wahrenburg of Virginia Beach and Edith Wallendecker of Chesapeake and Allan’s special four legged friend Barney.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Sentara Nursing Center and Sentara Hospice of Norfolk for the love and care that they gave Allan.
A celebration of Allan’s life will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home on Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn., 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502 or the Virginia Beach SPCA, 3040 Holland Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23453 in Allan’s name.
