She was a native of Morrow, La. and longtime resident of Vinton and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Viola enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two sons, Nathaniel Soileau, Jr., and Ronald J. Broussard; three daughters, Amy Soileau Mondragon, Rhonda Broussard Courmier, and Cynthia Broussard Sartin; two step-sons, Chester Broussard and Hewton Broussard; five step-daughters, Wanda Staley, Shirley Broussard, Jeanette Egan, Glenda Reeves, and Zona Rambin; thirty grandchildren; sixty-three great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Beverly Brown, grandson, Randy Broussard, her husbands, Nathaniel Soileau, Sr. and Jules Broussard, step-son, Merlin Broussard, parents, Abraham and Mammie Marcotte, sisters, Hilda M. Haw and Clara M. Clark, and brothers, Curis, Leo, and Clayton Marcotte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly. Visitation is from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hixson Funeral Home-Vinton.
