Teddy Glen McNiel, 72, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Christus St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born to his late parents, Oliver and Ruth McNiel on February 12, 1951 in Livingston, Texas. He was proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the Vietnam War. Teddy later became Justice of the Peace Ward 7 in Vinton, Louisiana. He enjoyed fishing in his early years and loved watching football. Most of all, he loved his family very much.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Donnette McNiel; children, Jamie McNiel of Westlake, Louisiana, Jeremiah Courvelle (Casey) of Vinton, Louisiana, Brandon Courvelle (Summer) of Lumberton, Texas, and Natasha Courvelle of Vinton, Louisiana; three sisters, Charlotte David of Vinton, Louisiana, Julie McNiel (Michael) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Peggy McNiel (Shaun) of Vinton, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; along with 1 great granddaughter.
Teddy is preceded in death by his parents; two children, Blake McNiel and Jessica McNiel; along with two siblings, James McNiel and Carolyn Dowden.
A Celebration of Teddy's life will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 1:00 pm, with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 am, with a Rosary at 12:30 pm, followed by the service at 1:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.
