He was a native of Mamou and had been a resident of Vinton for 48 years, coming from Orange, Texas. Parry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Boiler Makers Union, VFW Post #9854, and a former member of American Legion Post #208. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ella Blanchard; his five sons, Kenneth Blanchard of Vinton, Michael Blanchard and wife, Debbie of Sulphur, Glen Blanchard of Portland, Oregon, Terry Blanchard and wife, Faith of Tomball, Texas, and David Blanchard of Vinton; two daughters, Donna Anding and husband, Ronald of Vinton, and Paula Frost and husband, Burt of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; brother, Elvin Blanchard and wife, Alicia, of Orange, Texas; sister-in-law, Nancy Blanchard of Orange, Texas; seven grandchildren, Ashley Register and husband, Jon, Lauren Anding and boyfriend, Brandon Capelo, Amber Douglas and husband, Chad, Kristen Dore and husband, Josh, Kyle Blanchard and wife, Amber, Tayler Blanchard, and Tyler Blanchard; eight great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Buddy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonce Blanchard and Eusta Duhon; and his siblins, Geraldine Cherry and Gerald Blanchard.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary service at 7 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
