Michael was born on the 25th of March,1964 and departed this life on January 21, 2025.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Michael John Powers II, mother, Mary Jo Gnau,
sister, Amy Powers Schellenberg and nephew, Conner Schellenberg. He leaves behind
a beautiful family, consisting of his beloved wife of 25 years, Barbie Powers, son Nicholas
Powers, daughter Madison (Powers) Boszor, son-in-law Kyle Boszor, along with many
nieces and nephews.
Michael had a large appetite for life, and this was reflected in so many things. He was
an accomplished businessman, always working hard in multiple arenas but his family
and friends always came first, with his beautiful racehorses, football and Mr. B's New
Orleans's BBQ Shrimp coming in a close second.
He was a huge football fan, and loved to relax cheering on his favorite teams, including
the Texas Longhorns, Notre Dame, Southern Miss, and if compelled, the Texas Aggies
and the Oklahoma Sooners.
While he was a self-made businessman, he always made time for his kids, participating
in every way possible, as they grew up. When the family was not at a sporting event on
a Friday night, you could find him sitting on the driveway of their family home, with
music playing, waiting for friends, who were like family, to arrive. These gatherings
could go late into the evening, laughing, talking, watching kids play, and making lasting
memories.
Once Michael and Barbie were empty nesters, the next chapter in his life included
thoroughbred horses, a lot of golfing, weekend getaways and long road trips. His idea of
the perfect getaway was a long weekend with his family, playing golf, eating a nice
dinner together and maybe at the racetrack, watching one of his horses cross the finish
line.
Honoring his memory, we remember Michael as a loving, generous, and caring man but
his greatest accomplishment in life was raising his children, Nick and Maddy, always
alongside his beloved "Barbo".
Michael leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, kindness and generosity. He nurtured a
lifetime of friendships, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of
everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this
difficult time.
Michael, you will be missed!
