Margaret Pitre Istre 72, entered the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 11, 1952, in Hamshire, Texas, to Enies and Mary Pitre and was a longtime resident of the Vinton community and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Margaret retired in 2007 after twenty years with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. She loved dancing to French music, crabbing, and cooking for her family. She was one of the kindest souls and the perfect example of compassion and unconditional love. Her greatest blessing was her family, especially her grandson, Brody, who was the light of her life.
A blessing to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Gladney J. Istre, daughter Roxanne Istre Douga, grandson Brody Douga & girlfriend Emily Savoit all of Vinton, Louisiana, brother James Pitre and wife Lindy of Hamshire, Texas, sister Carol Reed of Port Arthur, Texas, sister-in-law Emma Richard of Vinton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by parents; Enies and Mary Pitre.
Pallbearer’s: Billy Cast (nephew), Corey Istre (Godson), Sebastian Leblanc (nephew), Adam Pitre (nephew), Michael Richard (nephew), Oscar Richard (nephew), and Honorary Pallbearer Brody Douga (grandson).
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Pastor Don Snider will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and will continue until the time of service with a Rosary at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery.
