Joyce was a native of Orange, Texas and resided in Vinton for over 60 years. She retired from Calcasieu Parish School Board as a teacher and guidance counselor. She taught private piano lessons for many years and was passionate about teaching and helping students. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved music, reading and spending time with her family. Joyce was a dedicated organist to the music ministry at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was a charter member of St. Joseph's Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors include her children, Karen (Tom) Pickett of Sulphur, Kenneth Broussard (Brenda Allen) of Lake Charles, Kathy Broussard of Athens, Georgia, and Kim (David) Duplechian of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Lauren Broussard Westmoreland (Daryl), Trent Duplechian, Clarisse Duplechian and Trevor Duplechian; sister, Charlotte Dudley of Bastrop, Texas; sister-in-law, Frankie Fern Broussard Woods of Vinton; brother-in-law, J.E. “Slim” Broussard of Vinton and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maxceman Joseph LeBlanc and Pauline Hatchett LeBlanc; husband of 50 years, Elton Ray "Goober" Broussard; grandson, Kyle Andrew Broussard; and sister, Beatrice DuChamp.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 17 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will follow in Lee Granger Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 - 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. and resume Monday from 8 - 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
