He was a native of Honey Island, Texas and had been a resident of Vinton for 58 years. Jimmy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #208 and the VFW Post #9854. He retired after 25 years of service with the Louisiana State Police and after 10 years with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Louisiana State Troopers Association, and was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rosa Belle Gaspard Moore of Vinton; four children, Darryl "Butch" Moore and wife, Beverly of Buna, Texas, Connie Moore Burney of Vinton, Michael Moore and wife, Donna of Los Angeles, California, and Rucie Moore and wife, Amber of Mesa, Arizona; one sister, Virginia Gary of Jennings; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Louisiana State Troopers Association (www.latroopers.org) or the charity of one's choice.
