Gary Wayne Berry

Gary was a native and lifelong resident of Vinton and was a 1961 graduate of Vinton High School. He was a member of the Vinton Masonic Lodge #364 and also a Shriner. Gary worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator/Supervisor for Nichols Construction where he later retired after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 406. He loved working on the farm with his son, hunting, fishing and spending time with family at different get-togethers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Vickie (Steven) Wright of Vinton, LA; his son, Walter (Tricia) Berry of Vinton, LA; his grandchildren, Garet Berry, Shannon (Malcolm) Boudreaux, Haylee Mathews (CJ), Devin Hebert (Wesley), Trent Wright (Kerstyn), and Emma Berry; 10 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Catherine "Kitty" (Roland) Comeaux of Carlyss, LA and Patsy (Carl) LeBrun of Austin, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Berry & Willie Irene Arledge Berry; his brother, Billy Jean Berry; his nephew, David Berry.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton.

Funeral services including a Masonic Service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in the funeral home. Rev. Gerard Little will officiate. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton.
