Ernie Dale Whatley, 78, passed away on December 6, 2020 at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home.
He was a native of Edgerly and spent most of his life in Vinton. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. Ernie enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Donna Whatley Broussard and husband Ricky of Vinton, and Donald Ray Whatley and wife Patricia of Vinton; two brothers, Chester Whatley and wife Eva of Edgerly, and Lester Glenn Whatley of Hackberry.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Margaret Cormier Whatley; his parents, H.A. Whatley and Irene Picard Whatley; brothers, William Whatley and Wayne Whatley; and his sister, Melba Whatley Vincent.
Cremation has been entrusted to Hixson Vinton Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly at a later date. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonvinton.com
