She was a native of Orange, Texas and had been a longtime resident of Vinton. Elaine loved the Lord and being an avid reader, enjoyed reading her Bible, working crossword puzzles, drinking coffee, and gardening, especially flowers.
Survivors include her children, Laurie Bonnitt and husband, Doug of Vinton, Chris Jagneaux and wife, Deborah of Vinton, Johnny Jagneaux and wife, Lenora of South Lead Hill, Arkansas, and Ricky Jagneaux and wife, Paula of Longville; her siblings, Beverly Anderson of Orange, Texas, Diane Prince of Tyler, Texas, Jimmy Mathews of Port Neches, Texas; seventeen grandchildren, Micah Conklin, Matthew Bonnitt, Ben Bonnitt, Bethany Prince, Jordan Bonnitt, Moriah Duhon, Abigail Bonnitt, Gayla Taylor, Ryan Jagneaux, Jennifer Miller, Tim Jagneaux, Steven Jagneaux, Danae Bagwell, Sam Jagneaux, Meaghan Benoit, Ethan Jagneaux, and Caleb Jagneaux; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, V.J. and Ruth Mathews; and a grandson, Joshua Bonnitt.
A Celebration of Elaine's Life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 21, in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Vinton. The Rev. Gerard Little will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of service Friday in the church.
