Verne Ivers

Verne Ivers, 74 of Bridgeport,IL passed away Tuesday August 9 at Lawrence Community Healthcare Center. He was born in Decatur, IL and lived most of his life in the Vincennes and Lawrenceville areas. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines and was a heavy equipment operator with the local Operating Engineers Union. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lawrenceville. Verne is survived by 3 daughters, Shanon Ali, Karen Ivers and Kim Wright, 2 sons, Vernie and Michael Ivers and 1 sister. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:15 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Debbie Salters officiating. Military rites will be performed by the All Weather Firing Squad. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home 505 Main Street.
