Frank Wagoner, 86, of Vincennes, passed away Monday September 12, 2011 at his home with his family at his side. He was born November 2, 1924 in Knox County to the late Manford and Nellie (Smith) Wagoner and has lived in this area his entire life.
He graduated from Monroe City High School in the class of 1943, was a farmer, worked 23 years for the Vincennes Paper Mill and retired from the Knox County Highway Department. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and the family pets. His pastimes included doing yard work and gardening, jigsaw and crossword puzzles and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores (Robold) Wagoner whom he married November 23, 1952, a daughter Suellyn Fitzpatrick and her husband Mike, 2 sons, Dean Wagoner and his wife Linda and Mark Wagoner and his wife Mary Beth. Frank was blessed with 8 grandchildren who will serve as his pallbearers, Brandon and Aaron Fitzpatrick, Sara Wirth and her husband Sean, Jared, Matthew, Laura, Kalissa and Jayla Wagoner and a great grandson, Jaxson Wirth. Also surviving is a brother in law, Robert Robold and his wife Martha and several nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Johnson and 6 brothers, Vaughn, Honus, Martin, Robert, David and Earl.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Maxwell officiating. Friends are invited to visit and share memories of Frank with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home 505 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank's memory to Good Samaritan Hospice.
