Dr. Rajiv Puri, a devoted husband, father, and renowned orthopedic surgeon, passed away on September 7th at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and healing. He was a resident of Victorville, California, where he served the community with dedication and compassion for over 20 years, affiliated with several hospitals, including St. Mary’s Medical Center, Desert Valley Hospital, and Victor Valley Hospital.
Born in India, Dr. Puri earned his medical degree from Government Medical College Amritsar before embarking on a successful career in orthopedic surgery. His skill, kindness, and commitment to his patients were a hallmark of his professional life.
Outside of medicine, Rajiv was known for his larger-than-life personality. As an avid joke teller and the life of the party, he brought joy to everyone who knew him. His love for adventure took him to all seven continents, where he climbed mountains, embarked on exotic trips with friends and family, and created countless memories along the way.
Dr. Puri was also an accomplished athlete. He competed in Ironman competitions and, earlier in life, earned the prestigious title of "Mr. Punjab" as a bodybuilding champion in his home state of India, demonstrating his remarkable discipline and strength.
Dr. Rajiv Puri is survived by his loving wife, Geetha Puri; their children, Anjana, Shilpa, and Prateek; and his sister, Sushma Sondhi. His warmth, humor, and passion for life will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a lasting impact on his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless lives he touched as a healer and a friend.
