BIO: Rafael Michel Guerrero, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather went to his Creator and Savior on December 16, 2015. He was 94 years old. Our father was born in El Chante, Jalisco, Mexico, the youngest son of twelve children and the last of his siblings to leave this earth. Our father and mother, Maria Bobadilla, were married for 66 years, 11 months. He is survived by his wife, our mother, Maria and five children: Carmen, Carlos (wife Melony), Socorro (husband John Lopez), Victor (wife Betty), and Sarah (husband Rusty Klaus). From these five children and their blended families, our father is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Our father was very proud of the military service by four great-grandsons. He is also survived by family and many friends both here in the U.S. and in Mexico. He worked as a truck driver for various agriculture businesses in Ventura County¸ among them the Berylwood Investment Company in Somis, California the town where we, the Guerrero children, were raised. Our father had an exemplary work ethic that is his legacy to his children. For the last thirty years, he and our mother have lived in the Victorville, CA area. Our father was a passionate gardener – their home always demonstrated his talented ‘green thumb’ with beautiful flowers and plants. His vegetable gardens and fruit trees always produced bumper crops – his salsa was the best and prized by everyone who tasted it. He was a very religious and spiritual man. He always had his rosary by his side and together with our mother recited the rosary daily. His deep faith is another legacy he leaves his family. The family expresses their deep gratitude and thanks to Vannithamby “Dr. Jegan” Jegapragasan, M.D., F.R.C.S., his doctor for more than 17 years; Genoveva “Genny” Spears and Les Scarot, his Hospice nurses. A celebration of our father’s life will be on Wednesday, December 23 beginning with the Rosary at 11 am to be immediately followed by Mass at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Victorville, CA, and the burial service at Desert View Memorial Park also in Victorville. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the “Rafael Guerrero Scholarship”, established many years ago through the Oxnard College Foundation: The Oxnard College Foundation 4000 South Rose Avenue Oxnard, CA 93033 (805) 986-5889 (805) 986-5989 fax [email protected] Newspaper obit: Rafael Michel Guerrero, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather went to his Creator and Savior on December 16, 2015.
