1972 – 2023
Obituary
Michael Kevin McKeehan, age 50, passed away Tuesday March 14, 2023, after a 10-month fight to recover from a surgery performed late April 2022. This was in an effort to improve his health after complications caused from an original procedure in November 2014 for weight loss. Although the last year was his most difficult, he braved it with a smile to make lasting memories with his family and friends.
Michael was born to Samuel A. and Joan V. (Costigan) McKeehan on April 16, 1972, in La Mirada, CA. He was the third of four children. One of his favorite things about himself was his baby blue eyes and was a little wistful none of his children received them. His five biggest passions in life were: Faith, Family, Food, Football, and Fishing. Michael was proud to be Catholic and was happy to complete his Confirmation in recent years. A family man through and through, from his six children to his parents, there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. He aspired to start a food truck business; he catered many events for family and friends in recent years and his food will be one of the many things we dearly miss with his passing. Most Saturdays, when not on a big-rig, you’d find Mike enjoying Notre Dame football or dreaming about his next fishing trip.
Michael studied to be a commercial truck driver in 2008 and was hired on by Covenant Transport in 2009. He would work there until 2015 earning the title Master Trainer and making lasting friendships. After being an OTR trucker for six years he began working locally at Apex Bulk Commodities, before being hired on at McLane Foodservice where he recently celebrated five years.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Michelle (Combe), and his beloved children; Justin (Monika), Alexis, Kasey, Valerie, Samantha & Cecilia; grandchildren: Aiden, Aubrey, Alaya and one granddaughter on the way. His father Samuel McKeehan and siblings Samuel V. (Terri) McKeehan, Bernadette Frechette, and Frank (Leilani) McKeehan. Additionally, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces from a close loving extended family.
Services will be on Friday April 14th, 2023 with a viewing at Desert View Memorial Park and funeral mass at Holy Innocents Catholic Church.
