Margie was born in the Philippines on March 22, 1953, to Federico and Felicisima Flores. She lived the typical military life with her parents and three brothers, moving from the Philippines to Guam and several Naval bases in the United States. They finally settled in Temple City, California where she graduated from Temple City High School in 1971. She went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from Pasadena City College and began a career in banking, which she retired from in 2015.
On June 29, 1985, Margie married Kirk Okamuro. Shortly after, they moved to Victorville with their three daughters where she spent her free time volunteering in the girls’ classrooms and Girl Scout troops. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially delicious holiday treats. You never left Margie’s home without a full stomach and a tray of leftovers! Her generous spirit and warm smile were a ray of sunshine to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Michelle (Jason) Walker, Melissa (Nathan) Vandiver, and Brittany (Alec) Larriva along with her 6 grandchildren, Jason (Lorena), Corey, and Devon Walker, Kyle and Cadence Vandiver, and Liliana Larriva. She was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Joziah, Aydan, Adam, and Jase Walker.
Margie is also survived by her mother, Fely Flores; brothers, Rick (Jackie) Flores and Eddie (Jodie) Flores; sister-in-law, Nancy Flores; sister-in-law, Kerri (Mike) Sandoval; brother-in-law, Kris Okamuro; sister-in-law, Terry Okamuro, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Kirk Okamuro, as well as her father, Fred Flores Sr.; brother Fred Flores Jr.; and brother-in-law Kit Okamuro.
A visitation and service for Margie will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10:00 A.M at Holy Innocents Church, located at 13230 El Evado Road, Victorville, CA 92392. There will be a graveside service at 12:00 P.M at Desert View Memorial Park, located at 11500 Amargosa Road, Victorville, CA 92392. All are welcome to join the family at a reception at Holy Innocents Church immediately following the graveside service.
