After years of battling Parkinson’s disease, Keith McCaffrey and God finally decided it was his time to transcend all worldly joy and suffering. At age 87, Keith passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2019, in the family home of his son, Ralph, in Apple Valley, CA.
Keith was born December 3, 1931, in Seneca, Kansas to Ralph and Mary McCaffrey. He grew up in Kansas and eventually settled in California. Throughout his lifetime, Keith influenced so many others for the greater good, perhaps most notably in the role of school principal at Palm Vista Elementary in Twentynine Palms, CA (‘65-‘75) and at Joshua Circle Elementary in Hesperia, CA (‘75-‘92). He and his wife resided in Hesperia until health issues in 2017 led them to Apple Valley. Keith was a devout man who strove always to follow God’s will. For many years he led RCIA classes and served in various other ministries at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hesperia. Keith loved sailing his catamaran and windsurfing, especially with his friends, children, and grandchildren, and he continued these hobbies well into his 70s. He enjoyed camping, card games, reading, listening to his record albums, playing guitar, and singing. He lived simply, and enjoyed living life "in the present moment." Keith was a man of deep faith, generosity, and gratitude. He will be greatly missed.
Keith is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 62 years, his sister Virginia, his 5 sons Joe (Emma), Ralph (Cathy), Guy (Carol), Pat (Kelly), and David (Kim), 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren
