Joy Lynn Whittington

Joy had one brother named Justin who died in an auto accident in 1980. Joy married Roger Whittington in 1947. She graduated high school in 1947 & daughter Teresa born in May 1948.

Joy worked as secretary to Buffalo High School principal for a few years in the early 50's. in 1956 our family moved from Buffalo,W.VA to Nitro, W.V.A. There Mom worked at Cohen Drugs for nine years.

In 1965 family moved from W.VA. to Detroit, Michigan where Mom began a 25 year career at Montgomery Wards. She managed cosmetics, fine jewelry, & menswear during her career.

Joy's daughter Teresa married Robert Ruiz in 1989 in Victorville, California. in 1990 Robert & Teresa moved from Detroit to

Washington state. In 1996 Mom & Dad moved to Washington where we lived till 2001. In 2001 we made a big move from Washington to Hawaii. We loved the weather there after all the cold & snow we endured in Washington.

Mom and Dad were happy there till 2010 when my Dad passed away. This took quite a toll on Mom & she began showing signs of dementia. Mom did end up in a care home where they took great care of her. I visited her often and took her out to lunch and we got regular manicures and pedicures.

In 2014 because of another family illness Robert, Mom, and I moved to Las Vegas. Mom lived at Heritage Springs Assisted Living where there were lots of activities & socializing. She lived close by Robert & I so I visited her often & took her to lunch & sometimes to the casino which she loved.

The last part of 2016 I started to see a decline in Mom's health and she passed away on March 1st, 2017.
