Faith Michaela Hawkins was born April 20, 1995 in Fontana, California to Jamie Prestwood Hawkins and Tim Hawkins of Hesperia, California. Faith walked into the loving arms of Jesus on September 22, 2016, as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic motor vehicle accident. Faith was preceded in death by her beloved Papa, Michael Prestwood.
Faith is survived by her parents, Tim & Jamie Hawkins and siblings Justine, Seth, & Caleb Hawkins; Grandparents Karen Prestwood, Joanie Blackburn, Les Blackburn, and Bill Hawkins; Great-Grandparents Michael and Joanne McDermott; aunts, uncles, and cousins: Libbi, Christian, Cash, and Presley Miner; Brooke, Joshua, Andrew, Ethan, Isaac, and Olivia Ast; Pebbel, Ian, and Quinn Baily; Ryan, Kyle, and Madalen Blackburn; Renée, Scott, Zachary, and Sy Williams and numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Faith attended Lime Street School, Ranchero Middle School and graduated from Sultana High School in 2013. She was in her last semester at Chaffey College, where she was the social media editor of the school’s paper, The Breeze. Faith was preparing to transfer to either CSUSB or Long Beach State the next term. She loved learning and during her time in college she changed her goal from becoming a nurse to becoming a teacher because she had a undeniable and natural affinity for kids (and they for her) and a strong desire to lovingly help mold our next generation. Faith worked at the Mile High Café to support herself in achieving her college dreams and her life’s adventures.
Faith had a bubbly zest for life and loved many things, but nothing compared to her love of family, and if she was your friend, you automatically became family. Faith loved to learn and create; her strong sense of responsibility was balanced with her adventurous spirit. She and Justine were busy dreaming of their next big journey. Faith had an infectious laugh, a strong faith, and she gained great joy in the simple things of life. Kindness, wisdom, patience, respect, honesty, empathy, and generosity, were the hallmarks of her life. She had a way of making others feel special and valued, especially those who experienced rejection or did not easily fit-in. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with these amazing qualities.
The Hawkins family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the outpouring of support from our High Desert community. A special thank you to The Mile High Café, The Phoenix Foundation, and Calvary Chapel of the High Desert.
Our family has no words to express our deep grief and sense of loss. However, we could not feel more blessed to have been able to call this beautiful young woman our daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend for 21 amazing years. We are grateful for God’s grace to send us one of His most special creations. Faith will be missed by all who were blessed to have the honor of knowing her.
Faith’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 12:30p.m., at Calvary Chapel of the High Desert, Hesperia, CA
