It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Patrick Franklin on the early morning of November 18th. At his side, helping him and guiding him home, were his loving wife Laurie and sister-in-law Cheryl. Born on Feb 11th, 1949, to Patricia Lorraine Haney Franklin and Charles Arthur Franklin, Chuck was the second of five children: Fred, Bob, Terry, and Mary Pat.
Chuck grew up in Encino, California, where he attended St. Cyril’s Grammar School, Crespi High School, and later the University of Santa Clara, where he met lifelong friends. A gifted athlete, Chuck excelled in both football and baseball, and his talents and competitive spirit left an enduring mark. His passion for sports followed him throughout his life, whether as a player or devoted fan.
Chuck worked for many years as General Manager for Simi Valley Ambulance Services and was named District Operations Manager. Prior to that, he managed the telephone sales operation for Quality Promotions Inc. and was Unit Manager for Golden West Broadcasting. Formerly a baseball player, Chuck ended his career with the Philadelphia Phillies because of a knee injury. Chuck received his BS degree from Santa Clara University in Management and Marketing and served for three years as Director for the California Angels.
Chuck married the love of his life, Laurie Evanston. Their marriage was a testament to true partnership, filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and cherished memories.
Chuck’s life was a celebration of his love for Laurie, his family, and his teasing! He was known for his sense of humor and loyalty to his friends and family. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Chuck became an integral part of his beloved community of Wrightwood, California, where he served the residents for many years. He found great community, good people, and wonderful friends in Wrightwood, their little corner of heaven.
Chuck is survived by his wife Laurie; his siblings Robert “Bob” Franklin, Theresa “Terry” Franklin Maalen, and Mary Pat Fathe Aazam; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Services to honor Chuck’s life will be held in the spring.
