Virginia Ann Venglar Davis, 71, of Victoria, went to her eternal resting place on Sunday, February 18, 2024, with her two daughters by her side. She was the youngest of three children, born on December 4, 1952, to the late Herminnie Horelka Venglar Garvel and Gilbert H. Venglar of Inez. Virginia was a faithful Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Her character and temperament can be best shown from the time she was diagnosed with cancer in 1996, and 2018, and again in 2023 until her passing into Heaven. Virginia was a fighter and was determined to beat the cancer every time. She had every right to be mad, cry, and even fall into depression after her diagnosis but she continued to love and live every moment she was given. Neither hard times nor cancer would rob her of who she was. Always grateful until God called her home. She was a devoted mother, enjoyed doing crafts in her younger days, and loved country music and dancing. She loved her lottery tickets, game shows on TV, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones. Virginia was also very opinionated, strong-willed, and loved her two daughters fiercely. She had a sense of humor, was selfless, and was a hard worker. She was very loved and will be missed terribly.
Virginia served her country in the United States Army for 12 years and learned accounting while she was in the service. She used this skill at Berry Global where she worked for over 32 years.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 52 years, Johnnie L. Davis; daughters, Lacy Nichols (Brad), and Jennifer Davis, step-children, Dannie Davis, Rickie Davis, Lorrie Trampota, Harvie Davis; twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; her brothers; James Venglar (Geraldine), Gilbert Venglar (Karen), nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Herminnie Venglar, and granddaughter, Annalyse J. Lockhart.
Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2024, from 5:30-6:30 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow at Memory Garden Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
